FOXHOLE "Dear Joan--!"

Getting dumped by your Significant Other is a traumatizing experience....
...but discovering it in the middle of a pitched battle is...well...read for yourself...
Art for this tale from Charlton's FoxHole #6 (1955) by Rocco "Rocke" Mastroserio, a mainstay of the Charlton line with numerous credits in both war and romance comics, so he's an excellent choice to render this story.
The writer is unknown.
Happy Memorial Day to all!

Amorous Education PERFECT LOVE "Lesson in Love"

Did private schools really have such restrictive rules for the faculty as shown here?
Or is this never-reprinted tale from Ziff-Davis' Perfect Love #8 (1952) just badly-scripted?
Wow! Are they strict or what?
We know it's illustrated by penciler Jim Mooney and inker Bernard Sachs...but we don't know who the writer was since the records for Ziff-Davis' long-defunct comics division no longer exist!

Amorous Education GIRLS IN LOVE "The One Boy I Wanted"

As we head deep into prom season...
...let's see how "typical 1950s teens" handled going to it!
The number of cliches in this tale defy belief!
Everything from "if you take your glasses off, you'll be beautiful" to "will you marry me?"...on the first date!
While the writer and artist of this story from Girls in Love #47 (1955) are unknown, I'd like to ask one question...
Why does everyone who's supposed to be a student look at least a decade too old?
It's like watching Riverdale!

Amorous Education HI-SCHOOL ROMANCE: How "Shame" Became "Sham"

Here's a cover-featured tale from the 1950s about teen pregnancy...

Illustrated by Bob Powell and scripted by an unknown writer, this tale from Harvey's Hi-School Romance #24 (1953) reflects the conservative/Repug mindset...unless Marge is their daughter, of course!
But, that's not the end of it!
Due to the Republican-created "Seduction of the Innocent" mania of the 1950s, the comic book industry created a self censorship-board, The Comics Code Authority, to avoid government censorship!
When this story was reprinted in Harvey's Hi-School Romance #52 (1956), it was extensively-modified in both story and art, beginning with the title, re-setting the venue from high school to college, and extending skirt lengths (which were scandalously-short in the original)...
...and making Alan far less of a sleazy wimp than he was in the original story!
Here's where the changes become really interesting...a certain inconvenient matter has suddenly disappeared!
And a spanking-new happy ending!
It's the Republican vision of America in 1956...I mean 2022!
