Love in the Time of Covid-19 MY TRUE LOVE THRILLING CONFESSION STORIES "Week-End Romance"

Nothing like a good old-fashioned romantic triangle...

...this time involving a trio of medical personnel!
This never-reprinted tale from Fox's My True Love Thrilling Confession Stories #66 (1949) shows not only true love, but ethics and morals (something currently lacking in many, both in government and civilians), triumphing in the end!

MY CONFESSION "I Was Unwanted"

Here's a never-reprinted tale of torment and triumph from comics legend Wally Wood...
...which began on the inside front cover of the comic (which is why it's only a two-color page instead of the usual four-color page)!
Wally did quite a few of these romance potboilers before finding his niche doing sci-fi/fantasy and horror at EC Comics.
He rarely returned to the romance genre after that,
Though the comic is Fox's My Confession #8 (1949), it's actually the second (and last) issue under that title!
Before #7, it was Western True Crime!
from #9 to #10 it was My Confessions!
(I have no idea why they made it plural)
From #11 to #12 (then #3) it became the anthology Spectacular Features Magazine, then finally died!

MY EXPERIENCE "I Dated Disaster"

Our final Wally Wood Tribute tale is...
...As we conclude the series of never-reprinted tales illustrated by him and taken directly from the original comics from December of last year to Valentine's Day.
Best-known as a horror and sci-fi artist with a penchant for illustrating beautiful women, Wally Wood's early output had quite a bit of romance comics work, much of it not seen since first publication, like this story from Fox's My Experience #22 (1949).
And, since it was done before the Comics Code Authority eliminated most adult-level content in comics after the juvenile delinquency scare of the 1950s, the subject matter was on the level of the b-movies of the era, often a bit hard-edged and tawdry.
Happy
Valentine's Day!

MY SECRET LIFE "His Wife Hated Me!"

Continuing our tribute to Wally Wood...
...with a never-reprinted tale of matrimony and madness!
Best-known as a horror and sci-fi artist with a penchant for illustrating beautiful women, Wally Wood's early output had quite a bit of romance comics work, much of it not seen since first publication, like this story from Fox's My Secret Life #26 (1950).
And, since it was done before the Comics Code Authority eliminated most adult-level content in comics after the juvenile delinquency scare of the 1950s, the subject matter was on the level of the b-movies of the era, often a bit hard-edged and tawdry.
As a special project from now through Valentine's Day we're running a series of these never-reprinted tales taken directly from the original comics, alternating them with our ongoing soap opera Reach for Happiness!

MY LIFE: TRUE STORIES IN PICTURES "His Kisses were Tainted"

We begin the new year as we ended the old one...
...continuing our tribute to comics legend Wally Wood with another never-reprinted tale from the Golden Age of Comics!
Best-known as a horror and sci-fi artist with a penchant for illustrating beautiful women, Wally Wood's early output had quite a bit of romance comics work, much of it not seen since first publication, like this story from Fox's My Life: True Stories in Pictures #10 (1949).
And, since it was done before the Comics Code Authority eliminated most adult-level content in comics after the juvenile delinquency scare of the 1950s, the subject matter was on the level of the b-movies of the era, often a bit hard-edged and tawdry.
BTW, the reason the first page is only black and red is that it's the inside cover of the comic.which was printed in only two colors instead of the four colors (Cyan Magenta Yellow and Black) used on the front/back covers and interiors of books as a cost-saving measure.
(Most publishers just used black ink and no color on inside covers to save even more money!)
