HEART AND SOUL "Take Me Back"

Can a European aristocrat be a happy housewife in Middle America?
Judge for yourself in this scintillating saga from MikeRoss's Heart & Soul #2 (1954)!
Penciled by Mike Sekowsky, best known for writing/drawing radical revamps in the 1970s of both Wonder Woman...
...and Supergirl (in Adventure Comics).
Inked by Mike Esposito, who did a lot of romance work along with superhero and sci-fi art.

HEART AND SOUL "Second Love"

There are lots of stories about "first love", but few about the second time around.
Why is that?
While the writer of this never-reprinted tale from MikeRoss' Heart and Soul #1 (1954) is unknown, the art is by Ross Andru (pencils) & Mike Esposito (inks) on the first page and Mike Sekowsky (pencils) & Jack Abel (inks) on the rest of the story.
It's fair to assume that Andru and Esposito, as the editor and art director, did the first page of each story to give the other creatives a story "springboard" as well as model imagery for the primary characters.
Clever idea.
Too bad their publishing company was so short-lived.
Trivia: the company produced only four titles...three romance books (two of which were 3-D) and a MAD-style humor comic!
Next Week...
We don't know yet what we'll present!
But, we can guarantee that...

(Yeah, we say that a lot...but it's true!)

HEART & SOUL "Gigolo"

When you play at love, you may get played...
...as this never-reprinted sob-story from Mikeross' Heart & Soul #1 (1954) proves.
Pencils by Ross Andru, inks by Mike Esposito.
The writer is unknown.
The team of Andru & Esposito worked on numerous projects, including a long run on Wonder Woman in the 1960s.
They also had their own comics company in the early 1950s called MikeRoss Publications which published only four titles, three of which were romance comics!
You can see other tales from the same title, Heart & Soul, that this story appeared in, HERE, HERE, and HERE!

Next week:
We haven't decided yet what it'll be, but we can guarantee that...

HEART & SOUL "Too Late to Love"

What happens when a torch singer ends up carrying a torch?
This never-reprinted story from MikeRoss' Heart & Soul #2 (1954) tells the tawdry tale...
Both the writer and penciler are unknown, but the layouts look like Carmine Infantino's work.
The inker is Bernard Sachs.

HEART & SOUL "Losing Game"

For a change, a tale told from the guy's point-of-view...
...but, it's a guy with an attitude right out of AMC's MadMen TV series!
The writer for this tale from MikeRoss' Heart & Soul #2 (1954) is unknown!
The nicely-done art is by Carmine Infantino (pencils) and Bernard Sachs (inks), with several panels redrawn by Mike Sekowsky.
