FALLING IN LOVE "I Was a Prisoner of Love!"

It's a new month...and a new topic for the month!
Read the story and see if you can guess what type of tale we'll be presenting for the rest of the month!
(Hint: It ain't what you'll think!)
Did you guess the genre for the month from this never-reprinted, cover-featured story from DC's Falling in Love #71 (1964), illustrated by penciler Mike Sekowsky and inkers Joe Giella and Frank Giacoia?
It ain't show business romance!
(Although that's a whole category perfect for another month!)
It ain't men who use women and then dump them!
It ain't women who let themselves be treated like doormats!
Actually, the answer is purely in the (admittedly-metaphorical) title!
We're doing "Love is a Prison" in September...which will feature one (or both) of the protagonists incarcerated!
Yes, this story is a bit of a cheat, but the tale is so delightfully-overwrought and the cover was sooo kool, that we wanted to find some reason to post it!
And you did enjoy it, didn't you?
Forgive us?

MY LOVE "Must I Live Without Love?"

We saw last week how wonderfully legendary artist John Buscema portrayed women in swimsuits...
...so here's a cover that takes a scene occurring (in the story) during the chilly Autumn and turns it into a hot Summer pic...
When this story by writer Stan Lee, penciler John Buscema, and inker Sal Buscema (yes, John's little brother, who's an equally-gifted penciler) initially-appeared in Marvel's My Love V2N1 (1969), it wasn't the cover-featured tale.
But, when it was reprinted in Marvel's My Love Special #1 (1971), a new cover, based on the last panel of Page 6, was commissioned.
Guess they felt a bare-chested guy and bikini-clad girl would sell better than the sweater-clad couple in the story...

Super-Love with SUPERGIRL "StarFire's Revenge" Part 1

...villainess StarFire's plan to use a romantic lure to use a super-power-eliminating drug on Supergirl works...sort of!
The drug causes Kara's powers to temporarily shut-down at random moments.
Luckily, Kandorian science, though unable to reverse the effects, provides her with tech to give her replacement super-strength and flight (though not invulnerability)!
Meanwhile, the villainess has killed her romantic catspaw, Derek, to prevent him from revealing to the world...
What happens if Kara's powers cut out now?

OUR LOVE STORY "Hurt and the Heartbreak!"

Some romance comic book titles just say it all...
...like this one from Marvel's Our Love Story #3 (1970)!
Don't you just love those late-1960s/early-1970s fashions?
Story by Stan Lee, art by Don Heck and Frank Giacoia, all of whom have extensive romance comics credits going back to the 1950s, and forward to the mid-1970s!
Special Bonus:
The wonderfully-overwrought cover from this issue!

OUR LOVE STORY "You Can't Love Again"

...since Nan's doing such a good job, I'll just let her explain...
Wait..Mike deliberately planted stories in the press about his "professional disgrace"...just to see if she loved him?
Mind you, this was in the pre-Internet days, but even so, the word would have spread around both the entertainment and legal worlds pretty damn quickly!
Makes you wonder how he cleaned up that mess!
This Stan Lee-scripted/Gene Colan-penciled/Frank Giacoia-inked tale from Marvel's Our Love Story #4 (1970) was one of the few two-parters the Silver Age Marvel romance titles did!
Oddly, it wasn't cover-featured for either segment, as you'd expect such a story designed to draw repeat customers would do!
Even stranger...when the two-parter was reprinted, it appeared in two different titles several months apart!
And...this part (the conclusion) was reprinted before the first part!
