Super-Love SUPERMAN'S GIRL FRIEND LOIS LANE "Superman-Wonder Woman Team!"

We Conclude Our Month of Super-Love with...
...Lois Lane facing off against Wonder Woman for the hand of Superman!
But, this is a story set during the era when Princess Diana didn't have her Amazon abilities and powers!
Who will prevail?
Read on...
To Be Continued, on Thursday, at Our "Sister" Blog, Heroines!
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!
Written by Robert Kanigher, penciled by Irv Novick, and inked by Mike Esposito, this tale from DC's Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #93 (1969) has never been included in any Lois Lane hardcover or trade paperback reprints!
But it has been reprinted...in a couple of Wonder Woman collections!

Super-Love WONDER WOMAN (and SUPERGIRL) "Fight to the Death!"

Cover art by Carmine Infantino and Irv Novick
The cover pretty much says it all.
Prepare for a classic Silver Age catfight!
Grok has never appeared again, not even in the many reboots that have occurred since Crisis on Infinite Earths...
Written by Bill Finger, penciled by Win Mortimer, and inked by Jack Abel, this tale has never been reprinted in color since it's first appearance in DC's Wonder Woman #177 (1969).
You may wonder about the tag line..."Turn the page for the real END!"
This is the page...
Art by Mike Sekowsky and Dick Giordano
...and the series was about to do the wildest reboot any comic had ever done up to that point!
My blog-buddy, Rip Jagger, can fill you in on that fascinating story, starting HERE!

Super-Love WONDER WOMAN (and SUPERGIRL) "Captive Queens"

 We Have Already Seen...

Interplanetary conqueror Klamos wants a super-powered bride!
His troops have been sent to every corner of the universe to round up worthy candidates!
Having captured a de-powered Supergirl by temporarily making Earth's sun red instead of yellow, they now make their move on Wonder Woman...

"...such loyal friends?"
Except for a previous Brave & Bold tale (where they were hardly the best of friends), the two of them never met!
Either way, the mayhem concludes tomorrow!
Don't miss it!
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Do!
This Bill Finger-scripted, Win Mortimer-penciled, and Jack Abel-inked tale, was totally-different from any of the previously-published Wonder Woman stories!
Not surprising, since none of these creatives had worked on her tales before!
Ironically, this story apparently served as a try-out for Mortimer and Abel, who became regular artists (along with already-established illustrator Kurt Schaffenberger) on Supergirl's two tales-per-issue run in Adventure Comics in 1969!

Super-Love WONDER WOMAN "and Supergirl vs the Planetary Conqueror"

Love Takes Many Strange Forms as We See in this Tale...

...which has never been reprinted in color since its' first appearance in 1968!
A surprise you'll see...tomorrow!
You're Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!
This tale from DC's Wonder Woman #177 (1968) is atypical for a number of reasons.
None of the supporting cast for either heroine appears!
Neither heroine appears in her secret identity!
In fact, neither heroine even shows up until page 5!
Plus, writer Bill Finger, penciler Win Mortimer, and inker Jack Abel weren't the regular creative staff for the book!
(That would be writer Robert Kanigher, penciler Irv Novick and inker Mike Esposito.)
It appears this was a "fill-in" meant to be used for either a blown deadline or (as it turned out in this case) a "space-saver" before a reboot involving a totally-new creative team!
We'll go into that matter at the end of the tale...

Super-Spy-Love JET DREAM & HER STUNT GIRL COUNTERSPIES "Achilles Heel"

We Return to One of Our Most Popular Categories...
...with a cautionary tale about handsome men featuring an all-woman crimefighting team that predates Charlie's Angels by almost a decade!
This short tale by writer Dick Wood, penciler Mike Sekowsky, and inker Frank Giacoia is from Gold Key's Man from U.N.C.L.E. #13 (1967).
Jet Dream and Her StuntGirl CounterSpies appeared in 4-page tales in the middle of the book from #8 to #22, then appeared in a book-length story in a one-shot comic.
It's never been reprinted, and very few of the stories are available on the Net...until now!
We're re-presenting the entire series, beginning with the premiere currently at our "sister" blog Heroines!™. and crossing over with "brother" blog Crime & Punishment!
Next Week: Another Tale of Romance (and/or Seduction) with an Amazing Woman Warrior!

Divorce, American-Style BRIDES IN LOVE "Day of Divorce!"

June is the Month for Weddings, Right?

Art by Dick Giordano
Not here, it ain't!
According to myth, marrying between June 1st and June 20th would lead to everlasting love, since the Roman goddess Juno (Queen of the Gods) celebrated her festival during this time!
Normally, we'd do happy wedding tales in June.
But this year, we're feeling cranky and contrary!
So, let the never-reprinted recriminations begin...

Will other stories this month end as happily as this one by writer Joe Gill, penciler Joe Sinnott, and inker Vince Colletta from Charlton's Brides in Love #36 (1963)?
You really believe we're going to tell you?
Not with three more posts about divorce from the 40s to the 70s to go this month!

Next Week:
We Can Guarantee that...
