Romance on the Range ROMANCE TRAIL "Untamed"

Can a Fine Filly Tame a Studly Stallion...

...or will a studly stallion tame a fine filly?
Enquiring minds want to know!

Though we don't know who scripted this never-reprinted story from DC's Romance Trail #1 (1949), we do know it was illustrated by Everett Raymond Kinstler, who later became a noted portrait painter,,,particularly of official Presidential portraits, as seen HERE!
Unlike many other comic book illustrators turned "fine artists", Kinstler has never been shy about his comic book work, which included every genre during a decade in the business!

Next week:
We wind up with a special multi-part, book-length Western Romance!
And we guarantee that...
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!

Super-Love YOUNG HEROES IN LOVE "Your Lips! Your Eyes! Your Nuclear Breath Vision!" Conclusion

We Have Already Seen...

(Actually, we haven't seen this scene...yet!)
A newly-assembled group of youthful heroes and heroines meet their final member and check out their new Arctic base of operations...particularly the living arrangements...
As I said last time, a "superhero soap opera".
You'll be seeing more of this ensemble of...shall we say, super "Friends" (remember this is the mid-1990s) in the near future.

Next Week:
Two Marvel Heroes Fight for the Hand of a Marvel Heroine!
Which Heroes?
Which Heroine?

Super-Love YOUNG HEROES IN LOVE "Your Lips! Your Eyes! Your Nuclear Breath Vision!" Part 1

Though Published by DC...

...this introduction to a never-reprinted 1997 series is about characters who are an extremely-minor part of the DC Multiverse.
(They only crossed-over once with other DC characters and never even left their own title to do so!
If you didn't read Young Heroes in Love, you'd never know they existed!)
So dive in, and enjoy a superhero soap opera that most of you didn't even know existed!
Are those nipple rings???
Now that co-creators Dan Raspler (writer) and Dev Madan (penciler/designer) have assembled the protagonists, be here Friday when you'll see revelations (and I do mean revelations!) both in terms of plot and art!
Keep in mind we are a family-friendly blog, so get your mind out of the gutter!

Super-Love SHOWCASE "Lois Lane in 'Mrs Superman!' "

For the rest of the summer, we're going to do one of our favorite topics...
...Super-Love, beginning with the greatest love story in comics history...Lois Lane and Superman/Clark Kent!
This particular tale is from DC's Showcase #9 (1957), the first of two tryout issues before "Superman's Girl Friend" Lois received her solo title the next year.
Note: "Superman's Pal" Jimmy Olsen already received his own book several years earlier...without any test issues!
Just sayin'...
Written by Otto (Supergirl) Binder and illustrated by Al Plastino, one of the two primary Superman artists of the era (the other was Wayne Boring), this cover-featured story was typical of the type of tales that would be featured in the intrepid female reporter's own book through the end of the Silver Age.
But you really gotta ask; what audience was this book aimed at?
DC had a thriving romance comics line aimed at tween/teen girls, but this doesn't seem like the sort of book they'd want to read!
And it certainly wasn't the sort of thing the young male audience would pick up.
Yet it sold well enough to continue from 1958 until 1974, when it was combined with Jimmy Olsen and Supergirl into a $1 100-page Superman Family anthology which ran each of them in new stories along with reprints of all three characters' earlier tales.

Next Week:
Another tale of Super-Love!
