Laugh at Love TRUER THAN TRUE ROMANCE "What Are You Saying?!" & YOUNG ROMANCE "Heartbreak"

Yep, we're taking a humorous look at romance during the month of Valentine's Day!
And we're starting it off with another of Jeannie Martinet's rewrites of an otherwise never-reprinted DC Silver Age tale!
Now that you've seen how this story was reconceived for the cynical 2000s in Watson-Guptill's Truer Than True Romance (2001), let's see what the unknown original writer of this Jack Sparling-penciled and Vince Colletta-inked tale from DC's Young Romance #161 (1969) had in mind...
Is that adorable, or what???
Note: I really didn't believe there were any Vietnam War romance comic stories until I found this one!

Love in the Time of Covid-19 FIRST ROMANCE "Midnight Kisses" and FIRST LOVE "Prescription - Love"

Usually it's two women fighting over the same man...
...but now, the tables are turned as a female MD must choose between a fellow doctor or a fever-ridden patient!
This tale from Harvey's First Romance #9 (1951) seems innocent, in fact, downright innocuous, eh?
The Comics Code Authority, founded in 1954, didn't think so!
When the story was reprinted in Harvey's First Love #79 (1957), they insisted on numerous changes...beginning with the title...which they apparently thought was too salacious!
Most of the other changes involve captions and dialogue, but also note a couple of art modifications!
Did the Comics Code go too far?
Were they over-reacting?
Enquiring minds want...nay...need to know~

TOMB OF TERROR "What D'You Know, Joe?" / WEIRD "Gruesome Shock"

Here's a tale that's so NOT nice...
...that it was told twice, by two different publishers...using the same script!
The first version, illustrated by Jack Sparling, is from Harvey's Tomb of Terror #13 (1954).
Because it was considered too gruesome (even with heavy editing) to be reprinted, it was never printed in Comics Code-approved color comics.
But, the script, by an unknown writer, was re-used verbatim in a re-drawn version for Eerie Publications' b/w magazine Weird V9N1 (1969) with Cirilo Munoz providing the expanded (6 pages compared to 5 in the original) story's art!
Which version do you prefer, reader?
