Halloween HeartBreak /Tales Thrice Told WITCHES' TALES "Until Death Do Us Part" / WEIRD MYSTERIES "Robot Woman" / SHAM COMICS "Girl of My Screams!"

We Usually Present the Earlier  Version of a Story First...

...but in this case, we decided to run the later, re-illustrated (but not rewritten) tale first!

Illustrated by Osacar Fraga, this new rendition in Eerie Publications' Witches' Tales V1N9 (1969) of an older story from Stanley Morse's Weird Mysteries #2 (1952) is decent, but not too over-the-top or grotesque, as most of these reworkings tended to be!

OTOH, the original version illustrated (and likely written) by Basil Wolverton, is...well...read it for yourself!

All we can say is...WOW!
For the finale, here's another redone version with a difference!
The art is the same as the original, but the script is totally-rewritten!

Tim Fuller rewrote the story for Source Point Press' Sham Comics #3 (2019).
Happy Halloween!

Halloween HeartBreak HAUNTED LOVE "Reunion" Part 1

"Gothic romances" were one of the last  genres to make it to comic books...

and once they arrived, didn't last very long.

This story is from the longest-lasting title, Charlton's Haunted Love.

Will Anton and Nadia "put one over" on Daniel, or is Nadia actually psychic?

Will Daniel and Cleo be reunited?

And if so, how?

Will True Love prevail?

Fear Not!

You don't  have to wait until next week!

The heart-tugging conclusion will be posted...

Halloween HeartBreak / Tales Twice Told WEIRD TERROR "Satan's Love Call" & TALES OF VOODOO "Devil Power"

There's True Love...

...and then there's True Lust, usually directed by the Prince of Tempters...Satan!

But flawed humans can screw up The Devil's best-laid perfidious plans!

Written by Ken Fitch and illustrated by Don Heck, this pitch-perfect story from Comic Media's Weird Terror #11 (1954) was re-created with new art (but almost exactly the same script) in Eerie Publications' Tales of Voodoo V5N3 (1972) by illustrator Oscar Fraga!

It loses some of the lyricism in the retelling.

Halloween HeartBreak FORBIDDEN WORLDS "Timeless Tribe!" Conclusion

We Have Already Seen...

Art by Kurt Shaffenberger

Rod Merritt travelled to South America to investigate claims of an ancient civilization of immortals!

He discovers people who can metamorph into various forms including statuary, but seem to have a particular talent for transforming into animals including lions, jaguars, and rhinos!
While the rest of the expedition is slaughtered, Rod is kept alive at the behest of Leona, one of the leaders of the hidden people, who is attracted to him...

So, what did you expect?
A happy ending?

Not what writer/editor Richard Hughes and artist Ken Landau had in mind for this story from ACG's Forbidden Worlds #145 (1967).
Note: Despite his being "repulsed" at seeing Leona's true form, Rod accepts death as long as it's at her side.
BTW, here's the original art for that page...

Was Leona originally-conceived as being even more alien-appearing?

Did the Comics Code Authority make them tone it down?

We'll never know...
