DARK MANSION OF FORBIDDEN LOVE "Grey Lady of Coburn Manor" Chapter One: Mystery of the Mansion!

It's time for our annual "beach read" presentation...
...with a never-reprinted tale from DC's Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love #4 (1972)
Writer "Dorothy Manning" was longtime DC writer/editor Dorothy Woolfolk. who worked in comics from the early 1940s to the mid-1950s.
Returning to the field in 1971, she took over editing all the romance titles from '71 to their demise in '74.
She also edited Superman's Girl Friend: Lois Lane, and, briefly, Wonder Woman, as she was transitioning back to being an Amazonian superheroine after losing her powers for a couple of years.

STRANGE CONFESSIONS "I Was an Artist's Model"

Why do some women fall for arrogant, dominant men?
Perhaps this tale can offer an answer...
Illustrated by George Olesen, this never-reprinted tale from Ziff-Davis' Strange Confessions #4 (1952) has a semi-50 Shades of Grey vibe, but the heroine manages to overcome the "temptation" of the overly-controlling guy.
BTW, the writer is, mercifully for him or her, unknown, but might well be the Ziff-Davis comics line's editor, Jerry (Superman) Siegel!
Next week:
The Return of Reach for Happiness...
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!

YOUNG ROMANCE "Man-Hater"

WIth the GOP Presidential Convention in full swing...
...let's look at what Repugs (and immature boys) think women are like and what it takes to "tame" them!
Written and penciled by Jack Kirby and inked by Kirby and Joe Simon, this never-reprinted tale from Prize's Young Romance #3 (1948) is almost a spoof of the "I'll trick the superior (more intelligent/athletic) woman into loving me" storyline that actually was popular in B-movies of the period!
Next Week...
We don't know yet what we'll present!
But, we can guarantee that...
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!
