Divorce American Style SICK "Divorce, of Course!"

Ending a Marriage Can Be a Grim Experience!

...so let's lighten the mood with a bit of humor, specifically, parody!

Last year, we presented a month of comic stories about "Love Advisors" including real-life radio show host Mr Anthony...who actually had no qualifications whatsoever to counsel troubled lovers!
Well, he inspired imitators, some of whom made the transition from radio to TV!
This never-reprinted story, illustrated by the versatile Bob Powell, from Prize's MAD Magazine imitator Sick #3 (1960) is a parody of the entire counselor genre, not any particular inept advisor!

Divorce American-Style BEST LOVE "I Craved His Kisses!"

No, This Isn't a Romance on the Range Story...

...it's definitely Divorce American-Style, and just happens to start in the present-day West...specifically Las Vegas, home of "quckie divorces"!

Scripted by an unknown writer (but likely the book's editor, Stan Lee), penciled by Werner Roth & Bill Everett and inked by Everett, this story of divorcees, divorce lawyers, and...well...failed divorce (which means a rekindled, successful marriage) and another, likely, marriage...appeared in Timely's Best Love #36 (1950).

Divorce, American-Style BRIDES IN LOVE "Day of Divorce!"

June is the Month for Weddings, Right?

Art by Dick Giordano
Not here, it ain't!
According to myth, marrying between June 1st and June 20th would lead to everlasting love, since the Roman goddess Juno (Queen of the Gods) celebrated her festival during this time!
Normally, we'd do happy wedding tales in June.
But this year, we're feeling cranky and contrary!
So, let the never-reprinted recriminations begin...

Will other stories this month end as happily as this one by writer Joe Gill, penciler Joe Sinnott, and inker Vince Colletta from Charlton's Brides in Love #36 (1963)?
You really believe we're going to tell you?
Not with three more posts about divorce from the 40s to the 70s to go this month!
