Pride in Print GOTHIC TALES OF HAUNTED LOVE "Fazenda do Sangue Azul"

Though set in contemporary times...
...this short story touches on "uncomfortable truths" of both the past and present!
Written by H Puero and illustrated by Dante Lulz, this feature (whose title translates as "Blue Blood Farm") from Bedside Press' Gothic Tales of Haunted Love (2018) is a fascinating mixture of genres involving American history created by a pair of Brazilian creatives!

Pride in Print AFTER HOURS

Japanese comics (manga) have always been less...restrictive...than American comics....
...as this PG-13 example of the Shoujo-ai/Yuri (women's romance) genre proves!
Note: manga reads right-to-left, not left-to-right, as Western comics do!
And that's how they "met cute"...
Note that this excerpt is a scanalation from the original Japanese magazine publication.
The official American reprint from Viz removes the Japanese "sfx" as shown on this version of Page 3...
...and has slightly-different translations.
The series differs from the usual shoujo-ai/yuri strip (which feature high-school/college teen-agers) since the lead characters are adults.
Emi is in her mid-20s and Kei is early to mid 30s.
It's engrossing and entertaining, going into how the duo combine business (music DJ-ing) and romance after moving in together and it's tastefully-done.

Pride in Print BINGO LOVE "1963"

True Love lasts a lifetime...
...and transcends all barriers, including religion, race, and gender!
Image's Bingo Love is a superb example...and it's PG-13!
As in most cases, the course of True Love doesn't run smoothly, and the couple are forced to break up...
...but are reunited a half-century later, and remain together until, as they say, " 'til death do you part"!
Since the book, written by Tee Franklin and illustrated by Jenn St-Onge, is still in print, I'm only running excerpts.
But you can order it from Amazon (hint, hint) since the book's being banned from school and public libraries...

Anything BUT Archie (sort of) A DATE WITH JUDY "Beach Fun with Cousin Roger" / SWING WITH SCOOTER "Cousin Roger's Hang-Up!"

This is the tale of a story that started out as "Anything BUT Archie"...

...but turned into...well..Archie when it was (sorta) reprinted!
Confused?
Don't worry, it'll all be made clear...
A Date with Judy began as a long-running (1941-1950) radio series with a female protagonist which became a TV series from 1951 to 1953.
During that period, it spun-off both a b-movie in 1948 and a DC teen humor comic book beginning in 1947 that this story was taken from.
This particular tale, illustrated by Bob Oksner, was from the final issue (#79) in 1960.
(Yes, the comic outlasted its' source by over half a decade!)
In 1969, DC's teen humor line was struggling, and, instead of doing new material for an oversized summer special, they took old, licensed material that would otherwise never be reprinted because they no longer owned the rights, and redrew the characters' heads, making them into the current crop of DC-owned characters!
So the earlier story starring Judy with her cousin and her boyfriend Oogie became a Scooter story with his girlfriend Cookie and her cousin, also named Roger!

You'll note neither Roger nor the cop were re-drawn by Henry Scarpelli for this re-worked story from DC's Swing with Scooter #20 (1969).
