Wedding Bliss GIRLS' LOVE STORIES "Marriage without LOVE!"

The course of True Love is rarely smooth...

...especially in romance comics!
Illustrated by romance comics regulars Jay Scott Pike and Win Mortimer, this tale from DC's Girls' Love Stories #121 (1966) combined almost all of the reasons I can imagine for a bride having "cold feet"!
(Note, my niece's wedding last Saturday went off perfectly!
No "cold feet"!)
Sadly, the scripter of this tale is unknown, but the odds are the writer was male.
(There were very few female comic book scribes in the Silver Age.)

Wedding Bliss WEDDING BELLS "Deferred Bride"

For those of you who had to postpone nuptuals due to Covid (as my niece did)...

...this is a story title and concept (though not the particular reason for the delay) that you can relate to!
Sadly, neither we nor the Grand Comics Database can figure out who created this never-reprinted tale from Quality's Wedding Bells #5 (1954).
Quality sold its' properties to DC Comics in 1956, and only Blackhawk, GI Combat, and Heart Throbs were continued without a break in publication.
Though other titles and characters such as Plastic Man have been revived since, none of the other romance titles have ever returned to print.
💗BTW, my niece is finally getting married this weekend!💗

Amorous Education/Wedding Bliss OUR LOVE STORY "A Boy to Marry!"

Our final Amorous Education entry until September...

...involves graduation and the choices made after it, as this cover by John Buscema and inker John Verpoorten shows!
Written by Stan Lee, penciled by Gene Colan and inked by Dick Ayers, this tale from Marvel's Our Love Story #8 (1970) shows not going to college has its' benefits...perhaps not the message Stan meant to send...
It's also a perfect segue into our theme for June...Wedding Bliss, all about the actual ceremony when two souls are bonded into one..but in romance comics it doesn't always go smoothly, as you'll see starting next week!

FOXHOLE "Dear Joan--!"

Getting dumped by your Significant Other is a traumatizing experience....
...but discovering it in the middle of a pitched battle is...well...read for yourself...
Art for this tale from Charlton's FoxHole #6 (1955) by Rocco "Rocke" Mastroserio, a mainstay of the Charlton line with numerous credits in both war and romance comics, so he's an excellent choice to render this story.
The writer is unknown.
Happy Memorial Day to all!

Amorous Education PERFECT LOVE "Lesson in Love"

Did private schools really have such restrictive rules for the faculty as shown here?
Or is this never-reprinted tale from Ziff-Davis' Perfect Love #8 (1952) just badly-scripted?
Wow! Are they strict or what?
We know it's illustrated by penciler Jim Mooney and inker Bernard Sachs...but we don't know who the writer was since the records for Ziff-Davis' long-defunct comics division no longer exist!
