CAREER GIRL ROMANCES "Sorrow Song"

What happens when, like most people...
...you can't make singing your career?
And worse, the bandmate you love is a cheating dog...
What does Johnny do for a living now, since he's not performing?
Why was he "away" (a euphemism for being incarcerated)?
Will he and Lauri remain in Michigan or go back to...well. whatever city they were performing in?
This never-reprinted Joe Gill-scripted/Jim Aparo illustrated tale under a Dick Giordano cover from Charlton's Career Girl Romances #40 (1967) never clears up those aspects...

AGAR-AGAR "Village in the Sea"

...we return to the psychedelic universe of an alien woman named after a plant food!
Whoa! 
That's heavy, man.
Pollution is, like, universal, man.
But, like, the Magic of Love can defeat it...

This story from New England Library's Dracula #2 (1971) was written by Luis Gasca under the pen-name Sadko  and illustrated in a Peter Max-esque style by Alberto Solsona.
It's the second of three that were published in the Warren trade paperback that reprinted the first six issues of this British magazine.
The remaining three stories have been unseen by American audiences, but will be posted here over the next few months.
It'll be a groovy trip, baby!

Sadly, there's no record of the creatives behind this particular never-reprinted story from Ziff-Davis' one-shot 100-pager Women in Love (1952) which featured (as seen HERE) a line-up of atypical stories for the genre!

WARTIME ROMANCES "Guilty Secrets"

Ironically, I had planned, a couple of weeks ago, to use today's cover feature...
...as the first post-Yuletide tale of 2020!
But the exacerbation of the Middle East situation by Don da Con gives the Korean War-era story a timeliness I wasn't expecting!
Penciled by comics legend Matt Baker and inked by Ray Osrin, this never-reprinted story from St John's Wartime Romances #12 (1952) was a typical about the stress and strain that wartime separation put on couples...both married and unmarried!

Louisa May Alcott's LITTLE WOMEN Conclusion

...we've seen the Christmastime trials and tribulations of the girls of the March family, as their father goes off to fight in the Civil War.
But now...

Beth LIVES???
That's not exactly what happens in the book, though!
The original story ends, like this comic, with Beth surviving her bout with scarlet fever!
But the novel sold so well that the publisher demanded a sequel, which Alcott produced, unwillingly, under the title Good Wives!
Beth does die in the sequel, set several years in the future, as its' revealed her heart was weakened by her earlier illness!
Since the two tales were relatively-short, current publishers combine the two into a single volume!
And most adaptations modify the timeline so Beth passes away during her initial attack!
The adaptor of Louisa May Alcott's novel is unknown, but the art is co-penciled by Rich Buckler & Dick Giordano and inked by Giordano.
