Is it just me, or does anyone else need a shower to help themselves feel clean after reading this?

"Can I help it if their neglected women cast lovelorn glances in my direction? Can I be blamed if my nimble tongue sought out the proper words to solace thwarted femininity?"
Women are foolish and easily manipulated, according to this story.
"Like a thousand women before her...and a thousands yet to come...she surrendered!"
Note that in the origin tale, Jon wears Superman's color scheme!

COWGIRL ROMANCES "Ranch of Riddles"

Nothing says I Love You like gunpowder, horse blankets, and guys who don't bathe for days, right?

Someone thought so back in the 1950s, when two of the most popular genres--romances and Westerns were combined into Western romances (or Romantic Westerns) in both comics and prose fiction.

At one point, there were almost a dozen titles in this genre before they all faded out by 1961.

Since then, the occasional "romance at a dude ranch" or somesuch has popped up, but they're usually set in the present, not in the Old West.

LOVE STORIES "I Loved a Drop-Out"

It's almost the end of the school year...

...so we wanted to get this tale on the board before summer vacation!

So, the kid quits school, then blackmails his doctor father to bankroll his eduction (which Dad was going to do all along) as well as take on free patients despite Dad already having a crushing workload?

And note the kid doesn't even offer to help out in Dad's office?

This never-reprinted tale penciled by Ric Estrada and inked by Tony DeZuniga from DC's Love Stories #147 (1972) has some weird priorities!

I'd criticize the writer...but we have no idea who it is!
