REACH FOR HAPPINESS Episode 7

BTW, though this Gene Colan-Tom Palmer illustrated splash is lovely, it has nothing to do with the story,
Nor is the red-headed girl Karen's sister, Peggy (who's black-haired).
It looks more like Rita, Karen's nemesis for Dr. Greg's affections!
Ah, well, on with the synopsis and today's installment...
At any rate, teen-age love's trials and travails are temporarily put aside as...
Next Week...
Sisters Reunite!
We can guarantee that...
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!
(Oh, you've heard that, eh?)
BTW: This chapter of "Reach for Happiness" from Secret Hearts #116 (1966) was written by Jack Miller, with a splash by Gene Colan and Tom Palmer with the remainder of the story something of a mish-mash with layouts and pencils by several different people including John Rosenberger, Jim Mooney and Gene Colan with primary inks by Tom Palmer and additional inks by a couple of others I can't identify right off.

YOUNG LOVE "Twist"

Maybe the party-pooper adults in FootLoose were right...
...dance is the Devil's instrument to lure teens to naughtiness!
This cover-featured tale from Prize's Young Love #33 (1962) was an attempt to cash in on the then-hot dance "The Twist".
The problem of translating the frantic hip gyration of the dance to single images is never really solved satisfactorily, with veteran Bob Powell's making it look more awkward than exciting.
Next week:
The Return of Reach for Happiness...
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!

HEART & SOUL "Gigolo"

When you play at love, you may get played...
...as this never-reprinted sob-story from Mikeross' Heart & Soul #1 (1954) proves.
Pencils by Ross Andru, inks by Mike Esposito.
The writer is unknown.
The team of Andru & Esposito worked on numerous projects, including a long run on Wonder Woman in the 1960s.
They also had their own comics company in the early 1950s called MikeRoss Publications which published only four titles, three of which were romance comics!
You can see other tales from the same title, Heart & Soul, that this story appeared in, HERE, HERE, and HERE!

Next week:
We haven't decided yet what it'll be, but we can guarantee that...
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!

REACH FOR HAPPINESS Episode 6 Part 2

Rita forces Greg to admit he's engaged to her in front of Karen, then attempts to console the distressed, yet still love-smitten, blonde.
Rita then heads to her father, Marty's, store to tell him her rival is now out of the way...
Remember, this was the 1960s.
Karen couldn't just pop a DVD or BluRay into the player or stream one of his films on Netflix!
Next Week...
We haven't decided yet what it'll be, but we can guarantee that...
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!
(Oh, you've heard that, eh?)
BTW: This chapter of "Reach for Happiness" from Secret Hearts #115 (1966) was written by Jack Miller, laid-out by John Rosenberger, penciled by Jim Mooney, and inked by Tom Palmer.
