When Last We Left an Increasingly-Desperate Lois Lane...

...she had lost a catfight to Diana Prince, the then-powerless Wonder Woman...who has, apparently, regained her powers...and then some!
And Superman's plans to wed Wonder Woman are going "full speed ahead"!

Well, at least it wasn't a tacky fake romance, like Batman pulled with the aid of Batgirl and Wonder Woman as we showed HERE, HERE, and HERE!

Several points...

a) Why didn't Superman realize the woman he was kissing (several times) was wearing a mask?
He does have super-senses, right?

b) How was Ar-Ual going to put Wonder Woman into the Phantom Zone?

The criminal escaped from the Zone through a rift (which had re-sealed) and the only Phantom Zone projector on Earth is in Superman's Fortress of Solitude!
The Superman robots and possibly even the tiny Kandorians in their bottle city might notice an intruder!
and, c) I don't believe we've ever seen a version of Red Kryptonite that temporarily removes a Kryptonian's super-powers!

Interplanetary conqueror Klamos wants a super-powered bride!

His troops have been sent to every corner of the universe to round up worthy candidates!
Having captured a de-powered Supergirl by temporarily making Earth's sun red instead of yellow, they now make their move on Wonder Woman...

"...such loyal friends?"

Except for a previous Brave & Bold tale (where they were hardly the best of friends), the two of them never met!

Either way, the mayhem concludes tomorrow!

This Bill Finger-scripted, Win Mortimer-penciled, and Jack Abel-inked tale, was totally-different from any of the previously-published Wonder Woman stories!
Not surprising, since none of these creatives had worked on her tales before!
Ironically, this story apparently served as a try-out for Mortimer and Abel, who became regular artists (along with already-established illustrator Kurt Schaffenberger) on Supergirl's two tales-per-issue run in Adventure Comics in 1969!

This tale from DC's Wonder Woman #177 (1968) is atypical for a number of reasons.

None of the supporting cast for either heroine appears!

Neither heroine appears in her secret identity!

In fact, neither heroine even shows up until page 5!

Plus, writer Bill Finger, penciler Win Mortimer, and inker Jack Abel weren't the regular creative staff for the book!

(That would be writer Robert Kanigher, penciler Irv Novick and inker Mike Esposito.)

It appears this was a "fill-in" meant to be used for either a blown deadline or (as it turned out in this case) a "space-saver" before a reboot involving a totally-new creative team!

We'll go into that matter at the end of the tale...

Super-Love BRAVE AND THE BOLD "In the Coils of the CopperHead" Conclusion

When Last We Left our Horny Heroines and Hapless Hero...

Batman's somewhat-silly plan to make the crafty CopperHead believe he was leaving a near-priceless artifact unguarded due to being distracted by Wonder Woman and Batgirl fighting over his affections has backfired spectacularly as both super-heroines are now totally-enamored of the Caped Crusader and the villain has made off with his prize!

I'd like to believe that writer Bob Haney was given the concept by editor Murray Boltanoff, not that Haney himself came up with the plot.
Note: editor Boltanoff was not a "continuity cop".
Many of the characters appearing in his books acted out of character from time to time!
This was artist Bob Brown's first time drawing Batman, obviously impressing artist-turned Editorial Director Carmine Infantino enough to move him over to the Batman and Robin strip in Detective Comics when the Bob Kane Studio's contract ended in early 1968!
BTW, Brown was the illustrator of the Detective Comics story that revamped Batman from campy tv-era Bright Knight back to the original concept of nocturnal Dark Knight as shown HERE!
Brown stayed on the title until he left DC in 1973, going to Marvel, where he ended up on Daredevil and the Black Widow a few months after the tale we told last week was published!
Ironically, Brown also illustrated one part of the two-issue introduction of Marvel's villainous CopperHead during this run, thereby being one of only three artists to create same-named (but not same-powered) villains at both DC and Marvel!
