LOVE SECRETS "I Hated Men"

Could there possibly be an innocent explanation for this scene?
Cover art by Matt Baker
If so, what could it be?
Ah, the old "She's my sister!" trope!
The unknown scripter of this never-reprinted story from Quality's Love Secrets #40 (1954) overplays the plot device...which could've been resolved a couple of pages earlier if the idiot guy had simply opened his phone call with "She's my sister and she's getting married and I'm her fiance's best man!" instead of a long, drawn-out explanation!
Though not identified by the Grand Comics Database, the art appears to be by Reed Crandall.

HEART THROBS & BRIDES ROMANCES "I Hated Men!"

Sometimes, the disdain by a female for males is warranted...

...but can still be overcome when she meets a better quality he!
This story from Quality's Heart Throbs #9 (1952) had a couple of modifications when it was reprinted in Quality's Brides Romances #12 (1955) after the implementation of the Comics Code...
...but only on the first two pages!
The Code apparently had no problem with the near-sexual assault on Pages 6-7...which remained unaltered in the reprint!
"Boys will be boys!", I suppose...
Penciled by Reed Crandall, but the scripter and inker are unknown.

Amourous Education CANDY "Try-Out for Love!"

Remember this story about students crushing on a faculty member?

It's actually a reworking of an earlier tale by the same writer!
Jack Mendelsohn, the scripter of this never-reprinted tale from Quality's Candy #37 (1953) reused almost all of the plot in Tower's Tippy Teen #2 (1966)!
(Even the one-shot gym teacher's name is the same in both stories!)

Wedding Bliss WEDDING BELLS "Deferred Bride"

For those of you who had to postpone nuptuals due to Covid (as my niece did)...

...this is a story title and concept (though not the particular reason for the delay) that you can relate to!
Sadly, neither we nor the Grand Comics Database can figure out who created this never-reprinted tale from Quality's Wedding Bells #5 (1954).
Quality sold its' properties to DC Comics in 1956, and only Blackhawk, GI Combat, and Heart Throbs were continued without a break in publication.
Though other titles and characters such as Plastic Man have been revived since, none of the other romance titles have ever returned to print.
💗BTW, my niece is finally getting married this weekend!💗

Amorous Education GIRLS IN LOVE "The One Boy I Wanted"

As we head deep into prom season...
...let's see how "typical 1950s teens" handled going to it!
The number of cliches in this tale defy belief!
Everything from "if you take your glasses off, you'll be beautiful" to "will you marry me?"...on the first date!
While the writer and artist of this story from Girls in Love #47 (1955) are unknown, I'd like to ask one question...
Why does everyone who's supposed to be a student look at least a decade too old?
It's like watching Riverdale!

Amorous Education CANDY "Chemical Formula"

...was the final version of a plot used three times by writer Jack Mendelsohn.
This is the second version of the tale!
This never-reprinted story from Quality's Candy #42 (1953) has some differences from the later Tippy Teen tale, but the similarities are unmistakable.

Amorous Education CAMPUS LOVES "They Said I was Fast"

Is this how the repressed readers of 1950s comics saw college sex...
...as if school was a modern Sodom?
Quality Comics' Campus Loves #2 (1950) presented this "naughty" tale, which couldn't be reprinted after the Comics Code came into effect, even with numerous alterations like similar tales we showed HERE and HERE!

The art is by Bill Ward, who later became noted for risque "good girl" work like this cover art...

I'm not ashamed to admit it's in my personal library.
It's a Price Guide!
I use it as reference!
