Countdown to Halloween HAUNTED LOVE "Kiss to Save Him from the Grave!" Conclusion

We Have Already Seen...

...(technically, we haven't seen this...yet!)
Nurse Lucille Burton, in order to be closer to hunky Doctor Wayne Thornton, joins him in caring for elderly (and rich) Trevor Galt in his country mansion.
The nurse she's replacing warns her of danger, but Lucille doesn't believe her...until something unseen disturbs her...
A happy ending...or is it?
This story, by writer-artist Tom Sutton, was originally published in Charlton's Haunted Love #1 (1973).
Here's an early Halloween treat (no trick)...the original art for the cover!

Next Week...
Another Sinister Story!
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out If You Miss It!
This year, we're featuring the best of the rarely-reprinted 1970s Charlton gothic romance book Haunted Love!

Weird Halloween Romance NOT BRAND ECHH "Best Side Story"

What if the Silver Age Doctor Strange and Wonder Woman fell in love?
We'd probably have ended up with a serious version of this titanic tale!
Written by Roy Thomas and illustrated by Tom Sutton, this comic company crossover classic was included in Marvel's Not Brand Echh! #6 (1968)...

...a romance-oriented issue that also included a look at how a Human Scorch (Human Torch)/Gristle (Crystal) marriage would work out, and Spidey-Man (do I haveta tell you?) marrying the unlikeliest character of all!
Spoiler Alert: Its' The Wasp!
Welcome to our annual Weird Halloween Romance Blogathon, this year tied in to the wild Countdown to Halloween 2019 Blogathon covering so many kool pop-culture blogs (including this one), it's scary!
Every post this month is cross-genre, whether its' superheroes (like this one), horror, fantasy, or sci-fi!
Be here every Wednesday for more "horrible" fun!
BTW, filming on the Stephen Spielberg-directed remake of West Side Story just wrapped!

HAUNTED LOVE "Beware, Do Not Love Him!"

Let's start off our Halloween festival with a never-reprinted Gothic tale...
...from Charlton's Haunted Love #10 (1975)!
Usually these types of tales take longer, building up mood and suspense!
See HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE for book-length examples!
Even the shorter stories, like this one, don't read like Reader's Digest condensed versions!
Despite that, the writing is wonderful purple prose, and the art (despite typical poor Charlton printing) creates the proper mood!

HAUNTED LOVE "Mother's Boy"

It's October and we're starting off with the greatest horror of all...
...an evil mother-in-law who will never let her son go!
Written by Joe Gill and illustrated by Tom Sutton, this story from Haunted Love #6 (1974) gives me the creeps in a way I would expect from a pre-Comics Code story, when almost anything was published!

Next week:
We haven't decided yet what it'll be, but we can guarantee that...
You'll Cry Your Eyes Out if You Miss It!
(Oh, you've heard that, eh?)
